Flagpole

What Type of Flagpole Does American Flag Store Offer?

Are you searching for a quality flagpole? We are here to offer an exceptional selection of commercial and residential poles. Their wide selections are made with high quality commercial grade aluminum adhering to the highest standards by one of the leading manufacturers in the country.

 #1 Aluminum Flagpole (Commercial Grade)

Three types of flag poles fall under the Aluminum (Commercial Grade) category. Included are Commercial Internal Winch, Commercial Internal Halyard (rope), Commercial External Halyard (rope). High quality aluminum material that has gone through various stress tests in order to ensure the quality of these products are top notch. Instructions for the installation process of the flag pole are included with each pole purchase.

#2 External halyard assembly Ground set Aluminum Flagpole:

External halyard flagpoles provide the traditional rope based halyard system for raising and lowering the flag. Standard fittings include a spun aluminum ball, cast aluminum single sheave revolving truck assembly, braided nylon halyard, brass flag snaps, cast aluminum cleat, spun aluminum collar and corrugated steel ground sleeve assembly.

#3 Internal rope halyard assembly Ground set Aluminum Flagpole:

Rope based internal halyard flagpoles are a great solution to the problem of vandalism. patented access door frame assembly is now comprised of a match set of outer AND inner castings that surround the pole opening using 8 tamperproof 5/16″-18NC stainless steel bolts installed to the recommended torque requirements giving an extremely strong design. The integral cam cleat platform provides additional structural integrity.

#4 Internal Cable Winch Assembly ground set aluminum:

Stainless steel cable based, internal halyard flagpoles provide the best solution to the problem of vandalism. A smooth, flush door configuration resulting from the thick, high strength aluminum casting welded into the precision cut door opening supplies the strength needed when a significant opening is made in a flagpole shaft.

#5 Extreme Weather Aluminum:

Extreme Aluminum Flagpoles have all the features of standard Internal Winch/Cable Flagpoles but manufactured with larger base diameters and wall thickness to further withstand extreme weather conditions. Also, the separate Ball Finial and Revolving Cone style truck have been replaced with a Heavy Duty Ball/Truck Combo to handle the rough weather conditions.  Extreme Series Flagpoles come standard with Clear Anodized Finish to protect from the elements.

#6 Commercial Outrigger

Outrigger style flagpoles are the perfect choice when the situation requires flying wall-mounted flags below the building’s roofline. American Flag Store offers both commercial heavyweight and universal lightweight outrigger aluminum flag poles.

#7 Commercial Vertical

American Flag Store also offers commercial vertical flag poles that are suitable when the condition does not favor or allow the use of freestanding flag poles. This type of flag pole allows the flag to be flown from the building at a vertical angle.

#8 Fiberglass

Many people who live near the water choose to display their flag on a fiberglass flagpole. Fiberglass flagpoles are better suited for salt-water situations. They also allow the owner to have a white pole without the cost of powder coating.

For Home Residential Flagpole Use:

#9 Free-spin:

A residential aluminum pole engineered to include a built-in “free-spinning” top section that will prevent your 3×5′ nylon flag from tangling on the pole. The top section of the pole rotates on ball bearings so the flag will always be displayed appropriately. There is no need for any additional untangling accessories.

#10 Tapered ground set aluminum for residential use: Complete Residential Packages

Standard fittings include: a gold anodized, spun aluminum ball, a cast aluminum, single sheave stationary truck assembly, cast aluminum cleat, braided polypropylene halyard with snap hooks, flash collar and a PVC ground setting tube, in addition to a US Nylon flag with embroidered stars and sewn stripes is included in these residential flagpole packages.

#11 Sectional Aluminum Flagpole:

The lightweight yet strong pole offers an excellent value in a beautiful, non-tapered modular flagpole that makes the perfect choice for the home or small business.

#12 Universal Outrigger Aluminum:

The Universal Flag Pole is constructed of all new 2 inch O.D. extruded aluminum tubing with a natural anodized finish. The mounting bracket is cast in one piece, mechanically peened to bright finish. Bracket is at 45 degree angle.

The Universal Outrigger Flag Pole is ideal for flag or banner displays at supermarkets, shopping centers, store fronts, residential locations, even interior locations where you want attention getting identification.

Finishes

Aluminum poles are constructed of Aluminum Alloy 6063, a marine grade alloy that exhibits extremely high resistance to corrosion. On contact with air, Aluminum forms a resistant layer of aluminum oxide. This process naturally guards against corrosion, allowing our flagpoles to be left unfinished while ensuring a lifetime of aesthetic beauty.

Satin Finish for aluminum flagpole

Satin Finish is achieved in a multi-pass, mechanical rotary sanding operation utilizing specially formulated abrasives. This attention to detail ensures a consistent, brushed aluminum finish that has become the industry’s first choice for low-maintenance and enduring flagpole finishes.

clear, dark bronze, black finishes for aluminum flag poles

Anodized Finish
Aluminum Flag Poles come in standard Anodized flagpole finishes which are Clear, Dark Bronze and Black. Exacting manufacturing specifications enhance the anodizing process, ensuring flagpole customers the optimum color and longevity in colored Anodized finishes.

Top Diameter and Butt Diameter

The Top Diameter is the circumference of the tapered flagpole measured at the very top of the shaft. Butt Diameter is the circumference of the flagpole in inches measured at the base of the shaft.

Wall Thickness

Wall Thickness Flagpoles are measured in inches, with Commercial flagpoles varying from .125″ to .500″.

Flagpole Height

The next consideration in choosing your flagpole design is to determine the mounting height. This can be specified solely on the required aesthetics of the particular job or can be determined by the size of the flag wished to be flown. The Mounting Height of flagpoles refers to the exposed height above grade and is measured to the top of the of the flagpole shaft. *When truck and ornaments are added, overall height can be greater by 1′-2′, which can be relevant in areas with height ordinances.

How tall a flagpole do I need?

The factors we consider when making a recommendation are:

How far off the road will the pole be located? Closer to the road doesn’t need to be as high.

How tall is the structure that the flagpole will be complimenting? The taller the building the taller the flagpole.

How many flags do you want to fly at one time on one pole? The more flags the taller the flagpole needs to be. We recommend that two flags per pole is the best way, but a maximum of three flags can be flown at one time on one pole.

 Ground Set

Ground Set installations are the strongest and most common form of flagpole installation. They require burial of the flagpole shaft in a concrete foundation to a depth equal to 10% of the mounting height.

Safety Note:

The specification and installation of a flagpole with wind speed ratings that do not meet the maximum wind speed for the project location, or flagpoles flying flags and banners that exceed the NAAMM recommended flag size, can result in personal injury and/or property damage. Flags should always be removed from the flagpole during severe weather events.

Extreme care must be exercised when installing flagpoles near overhead power lines or when digging in the vicinity of buried utilities.

Caution:

During installation, extreme care should be taken to insure that all components are securely attached.

Did You Know?

Aluminum flagpoles provide an environmentally responsible choice of material and approach with the burgeoning green movement, allowing specifiers to aggressively pursue a design based upon sustainable principles.

Aluminum resists the ravages of time, temperature, corrosion, humidity, and warping, creating an incredibly long life cycle when compared to alternative materials. This results in a far lower environmental impact through reduced material replacement energy.

• Aluminum is 100% recyclable. In fact, 70% of aluminum produced since the year 1886 is still in use today.

• Recycling aluminum saves 95% of the energy it would take to produce new material from Bauxite Ore.

• Every ton of recycled aluminum saves 4 tons of the raw Bauxite required to produce new aluminum.

• Using recycled aluminum, instead of raw materials, reduces air pollution by 95% and water consumption by 97%.

• Aluminum is naturally corrosion-resistant, eliminating the use of toxic chemicals to maintain its appearance.

• Aluminum recycling benefits present and future generations by conserving energy and other natural resources.
